Spring has sprung here in Gran Canaria and perfect for venturing up to the mountains. The lush green and abundance of wildflowers is a lovely change from the beaches and ocean views popular along the coast of the island.
At first, it looked like we were driving up to be greeted with a refreshing rain shower, but as we passed the view of Risco Blanco and headed up to Degollada de Beccera, the sun was waiting for us above the clouds.
Awesome view of Roque Bentayga (and Tenerife on clear days) from Degollada de Becerra
When we arrived, all was calm, then 2 coaches of adventure seeking tourists dispersed at the view point and a local stall selling ponchos (it's a bit cooler up there) and local produce. A local dog was watching them from across the road, as I took this photo a cyclist whizzed by giving me a very busy photograph.
After taking in the vistas, we headed to Cruz de Tejeda for a spot of lunch at Yolanda Grill Restaurant, which has recently expanded into next door's El Refugio and now has a lovely sun room. There was plenty great food on offer, although I was far too hungry to document it, but it was delicious and service was 10/10 as usual.
I leave you with a photo of some of the wildflowers that I snapped – they were cropping up everywhere, such a pretty season to explore the mountains of Gran Canaria.
