New Years Eve in Gran Canaria

If you are lucky enough to be celebrating the New Year in Gran Canaria, you will find many parties and fiestas wherever you choose to go. Don't forget your lucky grapes though!

You will probably see many small bags of grapes on sale in supermarkets which have already been counted out into sets of 12.

One grape to be eaten for each ‘dong' when the clock strikes 12 on New Years Eve.

Of course plenty of places will be charging an admission fee to get into clubs and bars, but there will also be many places offering free fireworks displays.

In previous years I've seen the New Year in at Anfi del Mar beach, where many people gather for a huge display of fireworks at midnight. Head to the beach around 22:00h, there will be live music and dancing until 02:00h.

Whatever you do, I hope you have a spectacular evening and fantastic start to 2015.
