Hibiscus Flower

On a recent stroll in Arguineguin, I saw this yellow Hibiscus flower blowing softly in the breeze.

Yellow, red or white Hibiscus flowers can be seen all over Gran Canaria and seem to thrive in the tropical climate.

I'm in no way a flower expert, so here are some tips on how to care for hibiscus plants. After a little research, I discovered they are also known as Rose Mallow and drinking Hibiscus tea can have several health benefits including a vitamin C boost.

The red hibiscus flower is traditionally worn by Tahitian women. A single flower, tucked behind the ear, is used to indicate the wearer's availability for marriage.
