Low cost supermarket chain LIDL have had several locations in Gran Canaria since 2010. With 4 branches along the east to south coast of Gran Canaria, the German company aims to bring lower prices with high quality to the island.
Gran Canaria LIDL Maspalomas
Lidl Maspalomas is the nearest store to the south of the island is in San Fernando de Maspalomas (it was built on the waste land at the back of the Euro Shopping Center and Police Station in San Fernando).
There is only a short ride from most of places in Playa del Ingles so if you are coming for holiday in Playa del Ingles and you want to stock up in things this is one of the closest big supermarkets to you.

Opening hours:
Monday – Sunday 08:00h/21:30h
Further up the coast there are stores in Vecindario, Agüimes, Ingenio and Telde. Most branches have an in store bakery and disability parking. The fresh bread is obviously a best seller, so if you go shopping later on in the evening there will be less to choose from. The vegetables are very fresh and locally sourced. I'm a big fan of the centre aisle, with all of the wonderful things that I didn't know I needed. You can find all kinds here from small furniture pieces, to pyjamas.

If you don't mind buying the no frills versions of things you can get some great bargains. Despite the domination of no brand products, you can also find some branded things in the toiletry section. They also sell sunscreen at lower prices than beach shops and other supermarkets.
Lidl Gluten Free Food
If you have a special diet check the labels you might be surprised there is plenty on offer. They even sell gluten free beer, which is good news if you like a beer and happen to have Celiac Disease. Gluten free food in Gran Canaria is labelled ‘sin gluten' (without gluten). The same applies to those who are Lactose Intolerant, look out for labels ‘sin lactosa‘.
