It's been a while since I've written a casual blog post on here and thought it was about time for one. It's time to get Gran Canaria Blog back on track since our merge with Gran Canaria Holidays earlier this year.
This afternoon we planned to visit Balcón Canario in Puerto Rico for some tuna steaks but it looks like they are still in the middle of their deep clean after their holidays. Hopefully they will be open soon. If you want some traditional Canarian food it should be on your must try list.
We were famished and decided to head to Burger King in El Tablero Shopping Center instead. 😅 Not quite the same I know but at that point we needed some fast food. Since my last visit to BK (pre-lockdown so around Christmas 2019) they have installed order screens so it just made life easier as we made a huge list of food. The chilli cheese bites were delicious!
I already had the Burger King app so it gave us a few cheeky discounts using the coupon code. There's plenty of seating outside under huge umbrellas so this is perfect for spacing out al fresco.
We weren't really in the mood for shopping but we did stop to take some photos of the Coco Día de los Muertos displays downstairs. The bridge at the side of the escalators is decorated with bright yellow marigold petal garlands and calaveras. The attention to detail is incredible!
Across the bridge there are life size calaveras of Mamá Imelda Rivera and Héctor Rivera with Miguel center stage wearing his red hoodie and guitar about to sing Un Poco Loco.
If you or the kids are a fan of the film Coco then you must check it out for yourself. Whoever crafted these decorations has done such an amazing job, they are perfect for Halloween, Día de Todos los Santos and Día de los Muertos, whichever you celebrate.
